Professional development in my school has always been with the whole staff together in the auditorium disseminating information, which is rarely relevant to everyone. I'd like to be able to revisit professional development. Using internet tools will assure that I can do that.

This is a great video clip to use to get teachers to "listen" to students as they express their needs. This would become a great opening to a PD session on helping teachers identify needs of students. Listening is a step before differentiating instruction or integrating technology.

The use of streaming video allowed the students to express their ideas very effectively.

The video speaks to where we know students need to be, what students need to know and experience before they graduate from elementary, middle, and high school. It is now our challenge to prepare staff to adapt to this way of teaching and learning with children, knowing that things will continue to develop and change.

M.A. Torres was our professional development presenter several years ago, and I was very impressed and moved by his work, and his students' work.
What this video did not reveal was how powerful & empowering technology is for students who are ELL or not deemed "academically inclined."

Fascinating! This is precisely what I have been thinking about comtemporary learning: use technology available now that students are comfortable with and integrate in your instructional strategies. The ipod is bridging that divide, the PDA and the cell phone are not far behind.

Technology is the most effective tool to increasing student engagement

It's a time, when sometimes, students seem ahead of technology than teachers,it's something to think about seriously.

the video really does make you think about education...how to deliver new information so that it's relevant to students' needs today...it also makes you think about how much more I still have to learn...about education, technology and the current state of the world of work
